VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – A Burnaby family transforms its home into what it calls the “Dundas Nightmare,” a terrifying tour through a haunted house to help sick kids. For the last eight years, Tony Quarto says he and his family decorate the front with ghosts and ghouls, and build a spooky house of horrors in the backyard from scratch.
He says people can expect to see ten frightening themed rooms including a torture chamber, butcher shop, and Texas chainsaw massacre space complete with blood and guts.

There are also live actors on site to keep people on their toes. “They come out there and there are a lot of surprises, a lot of scary effects and they’ll just peep out of the dark, I think that one there it is very, very scary. These people come out in masks and the whole nine yards. They’ll have the music and the props and all the special effects,” says Quarto.

He says it not recommended for children young than ten years of age or for the faint of heart.
“Everyone goes out screaming or running, this is every year,” he adds.

Last year about 600 people lined up for the experience through the house located at 4260 Dundas St. The cost is by donation. All of the proceeds go to BC Children’s Hospital. It runs this Thursday and Friday night.
